Tiare Ribeaux is a kānakamaoli interdisciplinary artist and filmmaker originally from Honolulu and based in the Bay Area. Her work employs storytelling to reveal social and ecological imbalances while imagining more regenerative futures. She explores how both our bodies and the technologies we use are entangled with the environment, and aims to recenter indigenous narratives. Her film and video work aims to blend the atemporal landscapes of dreams to explore the liminal dimensions of our reality, the cyclical nature of elemental geographies and the body, multi-species ontologies and the indigenous worldview. Her work often combines with installation elements to create immersive and expanded media experiences. As a curator and producer, she founded B4BEL4B Gallery in 2014 as a platform and community space to prioritize underrepresented artists in media arts, where she is currently the artistic director. She has shown work both nationally and internationally, including ISEA Gwangju and ISEA Hong Kong, IZOLYATSIA in Ukraine, Universidad Complutense de Madrid, the Copenhagen Fashion Film Festival, and the Imagine Science Film Festival in NYC. She was awarded a web residency with Akademie Schloss Solitude + ZKM in 2019 and selected for the American Arts Incubator in 2017-18 with the ZERO1 Art + Technology Network. She has won numerous grants and awards for her artistic leadership
Jody Stillwater 周青海is a writer and director from the San Francisco Bay Area. His film and interdisciplinary project themes are based in dream logic and tactile reality, with a modern/transforming approach to visual semiotics & archetype, grounded in Eastern rhizomatic systems and Western classical narrative. His cultural background as a Chinese/Norwegian/Cherokee-American amidst colliding waves of post-temporal diaspora and arhythmic, intertidal class structures has influenced a value of justice, representation and the ethereal, and allowed him to express these values in experimental film, immersive installation and narrative cinema. He has received grants from the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, Zellerbach Family Foundation and Fleischhacker Foundations. Stillwater is also a location sound recordist, and films he has recorded have screened at Sundance, Edinburgh Film Festival, SXSW, Chicago International, Tribeca and SFIFF. He has made films in the Netherlands, Colombia, Austria, India, Chile, Slovenia, the UK and across the United States.
